Susan Jenipher Anyango Oluoch was born on the 13th of December 1998. She went through her basic education in Mombasa before joining St. Mary’s Lwak Girls High School in 2013.
In 2016, she finished high school, and the following year, she joined Kenya Coast National Polytechnic for a diploma in journalism and mass media. She completed in 2019.
She was attached to Radio Max Limited, the owners of Pilipili FM, a Swahili FM station where she ran a segment on youth matters and honed her skills as a swahili presenter.
Between 2021 and 2022, Susan joined Horizon Sign Language Center for a certificate in Basic Kenyan Sign Language. The second daughter of departed Senior Layreader Edward Oluoch Amol, Susan was elected a Layreader at Kongowea in the last elections, where she serves under Mama Joyfrida Okello.
Mwalimu Susan is known for her eloquence, and good command of Swahili, the language used in church services in Mombasa. She is also developing skills as master of ceremony, where she has excelled especially during church youth events in Mombasa deanery.
During the burial of her dad on 11th May 2024, she caught the attention of mourners by clarity of her speech.
Layreader Susan Oluoch shared how the late father was her best friend who entrusted her with his most precious belongings.
She moved mourners into sorrow when she said that her father taught her everything in life except how to live independently without him.
Strength in God
She said that she was comforted by God during the trying moment of losing her father, and she admitted that God’s timing is the best for every situation.
Susan dreams of becoming a voice-over artist and a sign language interpreter.
